Duplicities...

A room with a view: "aislado", from júpiter and beyond
A room with a view: "júpiter", from júpiter and beyond
A room with a view: "flies only live one day", from addiction to dupplicities.

A room with a view was founded circa 1997, some members came from Down for the count, the first new school hardcore band in Madrid. So that in the beginning they were related to the hxc scene. But their business was something different, somewhere between Slint and Mogwai, between Codeine and The Cure, the were freaks in the hxc scene. With an strong DIY ethic, they self released their recordings and played in small clubs and squats. For years one could only find their albums through small distros, in their own shows and in the small tent they had every sunday in Tirso Molina Square, in the infamous Madrid's Rastro Flea market, surrounded by stoned punks and sweet 70 years old anarchists claiming against the opression of capitalism.

Around that time i saw them by the first time, in the small squat of my city, Móstoles, a suburb of Madrid, in an small hardcore fest...i was freaking out since the first chords sounded...

A year later or so, somebody from some big spanish indie band saw them on stage and they were finally signed by Recordings from the other Side, the spanish division of Everlasting Recordings. So they became big, they played in benicassim fest(the biggest indie fest in spain), and they toured in big venues, splitting one time and reuniting again a few months later. They didn't give a fuck about the commercial indie audience, and they kept on doing their stuff. I saw them playing live for the last time more than one year ago. A few Months later, I saw the drummer deejaying in some trendy and stinky House Dance Club...but, ok, an average dj in madrid earn 300 euros a night, so i'm not going to blame him...and he is as well movie soundtrack composer, i also heard...

Check them out, if they had been from another country and maybe smarter, they would be a big band sharing stage worldwide with such a monsters like Mogwai o Karate...but that's maybe part of the legend...

Sort of reminds me of Standstill, which is a good thing.

yeah...definately kind of similar sound, maybe because both bands recorded their albums in mr pri's studio in barcelona...

i will throw some tracks from the first album of stand still, when they were more metal and less indie...

Very nice... I'll need to look out for some records by this band if possible, though I imagine that might be complicated!
